New! Inbox Promos

The Inbox is the 2nd most visited feature within Castro, and typically where people go to look for something fresh when their listening queue is empty.

Podcasters who promote their show in the Inbox go to the top of this list, and have their Artwork, show name, and 110 characters to make a pitch. Users can quickly tap subscribe without abandoning what they're currently doing, or tap in to see all your show's episodes.

You can submit your podcast for an Inbox promotion. You'll receive an invoice via email automatically, and once it's paid we'll get your promotion live within 1 business day (usually less), and email you performance updates when run time completes.

Looking for something next level? Discover Promotions give you maximum visibility right where our users are looking for something new.

You'll get the opportunity to display custom artwork, tell your story in an editorial format, and even link outside of Castro. Here's a handy checklist of everything you'll need.

Discover promotions can feature a single podcast, or a collection of podcasts. If you're a podcast network, this means you can advertise up to 10 podcasts in a single feature.

Rather than run time, Discover promotions are purchased based on impressions. Currently the minimum spend is $750 for 50,000 impressions ($15 per 1000 impressions).

Why Promoted Podcasts?

Roughly 17% of our current user base are Castro Plus subscribers, which is a great and healthy number. This means however that 83% of our users are enjoying Castro free of charge. In order to make sure we can continue to build out Castro for everyone's enjoyment for years to come we wanted to provide a way for free users to support us financially.

What does this mean for Castro Plus users?

If you're a Castro Plus subscriber, Inbox promotions are defaulted to hidden. You can manage your promoted content preferences in Settings → Promoted Content. If you're not a Castro Plus subscriber you can tap here on your iPhone to upgrade today.
